Monthly Pattern of Services

We hope and pray you and all will find a style of worship at St Mary’s Shalford that enables you to find a way of encountering and worshiping God, with others of all ages, and connects with your own character and values and needs. Our regular worship pattern outlined below spans a range of worship styles on regular Sundays throughout the month.
Variations to this pattern occur some Sundays with particular seasonal or other alternative services – please see this month’s Worship and What’s On listing here.

1st & 3rd Sundays Traditional @ St Mary’s

10am Parish Communion
‘Traditional’ service of Holy Communion where all welcome to receive. With hymns, and usually a choir anthem.
Refreshments to follow.

2nd Sundays Contemporary @ St Mary’s

9am – Holy Communion
Shorter (30min) said Holy Communion service in the quietness of the new morning, ending with a hymn.
9.30-10am Combined coffee refreshments after & before worship

10am Cafe Church Contemporary – all ages
Informal cafe style all age worship,
with small worship band plus pop-up children’s percussion,
refreshments throughout

4th Sundays Creative @ St Mary’s

9am – Holy Communion
Shorter (30min) said Holy Communion service in the quietness of the new morning, ending with a hymn.9.30-10am Combined coffee refreshments after & before worship

10am 4th Sunday Contemplative/Creative Worship
Informal service of the word, usually with seating ‘in the round’, often focusing on area of social/environmental justice, global, or the arts. Sometimes guest speaker/preacher.

5th Sundays Lay Led Worship @ St Mary’s

10am Service of the Word
– led by one of the St Mary’s Lay Worship Teams

Midweek Wednesdays Weekly @ St Mary’s

11.30am – Midweek Holy Communion
Service of Holy Communion in the chancel, occasionally outside,
with short reflection, ending with a hymn.
Often we welcome friends from Guildford House care home
at this service too.
