Funerals

At one of life’s most difficult times, we are always here to help you – whether to plan a funeral, or simply to listen if you are grieving and need somebody to talk to, or cry to, or pray. Please contact the vicar or anybody in our pastoral care team if you wish to chat, or if you would like a visit.

You don’t have to be religious or go to church, to have a funeral either in St Mary’s Church or for your parish priest to lead the funeral in the crematorium (Guildford Crematorium is in fact in the Parish of Shalford) or woodland or cemetery burial site. Just let your funeral director know that you would like your parish vicar or other minister to conduct the funeral for you. A funeral service is very personal, and your wishes for the content of the service so important. Your parish church is here for everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, and for as long as needed in the following weeks and months, even years. The beautiful church of St Mary’s Shalford is of course available to everyone for a funeral or thanksgiving service.

Please get in touch with the vicar directly, or through your funeral directors, to discuss your wishes and needs, and to plan a funeral service that is personal in the way you wish. Rev’d Sarah, email: vicar.shalford@icloud.com tel: 01483 565012.
