This Saturday 11th December, don’t miss the wonderful Guildford & Godalming Jazz Choir performing from 2.30-3.30pm in St Mary’s (seating and space, and masks please). Come along as St Mary’s charities Christmas Tree Festival opens with refreshments from 2pm. Thanks so much to all groups and individuals who’ve created a tree this year for all to enjoy.
Then every day following, until Christmas Day, you can drop into church anytime to see the trees and find some peace, and everyday 3-5pm enjoy special ‘tree lights on & hot drink refreshment’ too as you wander around. Hope you and all your friends and neighbours enjoy – please invite others and let all know. Free, with donations pot for homelessness charities Guildford Action and Refugee Resettle@Guildford
This year there will be a special bare ‘homeless tree’, where we are invited to bring and add a small wrapped gift (with note saying what’s inside) which will go to the refugee family father, mother and two sons (15 and 25) resettling this week at last in Guildford through the Home Office Refugee Resettlement Community Sponsorship Scheme we support (Resettle@Guildford), and also gifts for people in their homelessness finding support through Guildford Action Day Centre. Just bring your gift (new warm hats, gloves, scarves, socks? Arts things? Persian or English food treats?) and hang on or under the ‘homeless tree’.
Thanks so much.
